CARDIAC REHAB
Our Cardiac Rehab class is run and operated by Grampian Cardiac Rehab Association (GCRA). These classes are targeted to those who have previously suffered from a cardiovascular incident such as a heart attack or bypass surgery. They are aimed at getting you safely back into physical activity and exercise. Research indicates that participanting in cardiac rehab classes can reduce your risk of re-occuring heart incidents, being readmitted to hospital and has a positive impact on your wellbeing and quality of life.
Our class leaders are all highly experienced, qualified health and exercise professional instructors. They are, as a minimum, qualified to the following level:
-
Either a register of exercise professionals level 4 qualification or have a physiotherapy degree.
-
Qualified and registered with the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) and update this qualification on a three yearly basis.
-
Are all OTAGO or PSI trained for strength and balance in exercise
-
Trained to carry out CPR and use an automatic external defibrillator (AED) with re-certification on a two yearly basis.
In addition to these qualifications they will have their own GCRA AED's at every class and there is an emergency procedure in case of accident or illness which they should follow.
This makes the classes they lead safe and rewarding for you as a member, where you can improve your physical fitness in an enjoyable and convivial atmosphere in the knowledge that the exercises you are undertaking are safe and for for purpose for you as an individual.
To Note:
-
Your first class is free! Additional sessions are £4.
